ALTHOUGH there were several twists along the way, the annual Christmas show of the Drama Club at Ilkley Grammar School had a happy ending.

The show, called Winter's Tales, was created through improvisation by the children in the Drama Club, with help from Mrs Davies and Ms McLelland, Head of Drama.

The production was a traditional Christmas fairy tale with a happy ending, but it had lots of unusual twists to it including zombie puppets, heroes, villains, Easter bunnies and even a drunken granddad!

Musical arrangements, were organised by Mr Anderson, Head of Music. Music students played a variety of tunes from traditional Christmas songs, like Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, through to a Beatles medley and a Rogers and Hammerstein song.

The highlight of the musical arrangement was the orchestra performing the premiere of the overture to the forthcoming Easter play called Live at the Empire.

Ms McLelland said: "It was a wonderful Christmas show, with something for everyone. The Drama Club, which consists of 45 on-stagers and 15 back-stagers, worked so hard and performed with such enthusiasm. They really entertained the audience."
