There were mixed fortunes for local clubs in the West Riding County Cup as Campion, Tyersal and Steeton all won through to the third round.

But there was disappointment for Dudley Hill Rangers, Salts, Keighley Shamrocks, South Bradford and Wibsey as they were all eliminated.

Campion needed a superb second-half display to see off Division One opponents Littletown, who led 2-0 after half an hour through Paul Moorhouse and Mathew Simpson.

Carl Trennery pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time and Campion then dominated after the interval to run out 5-2 winners.

Mick Burke scored twice against one of his former clubs after Adie Howard had equalised, with substitute Tariq Hussain adding the late fifth.

Goalkeeping errors and poor defending led to Wibsey's 4-1 downfall at home to defending champions Meltham Athletic.

Tom Mathews edged Meltham in front and although Chris Hanney soon equalised, Wibsey fell apart in the

second half as Mathews added his

second goal supported by his brother Adam and a Dean Walker penalty.

Tyersal overwhelmed Halifax League visitors Warley Rangers 9-0, with Dave Scott claiming a hat-trick and two goals apiece coming from Andy Carlton and Gareth Carney.

South Bradford were beaten by the final kick of the game at home to Sherburn White Rose.

With the scores level at 2-2 and extra time looming, Steve Holmes pounced

to give West Yorkshire League side Sherburn a 3-2 success.

Steeton overwhelmed local rivals Keighley Shamrocks 6-0 as Lee Barker's two goals were backed up by Adam Smith, Stuart Airdrie, Ricardo Falconi and Steve Barker.

Salts faded after a bright start at home to Tadcaster Magnet Sports and Nick Hird's goal was insufficient to avoid a 3-1 defeat. And Dudley Hill Rangers returned from their trip to Barnoldswick nursing a 4-1 defeat.

In other ties involving County Amateur League sides, Otley Town were 5-2 winners at West Yorkshire Premier side Carlton Athletic.

Ovenden West Riding scored four times in the last 15 minutes to gain a

4-1 home victory over Keighley's West Lancashire League side Crosshills.

Former County Amateur League side Baildon Trinity Athletic, who now play in the West Yorkshire League, suffered a 7-1 reverse at Halifax Irish, whose

18-year-old goalkeeper Chris Mahoney scored a penalty.

Meanwhile, Tyersal Reserves eased into the third round of the West Riding County Trophy with a 4-0 win over Victoria Boys Club (Rothwell).

Wibsey Reserves will have to replay at Castleford after being held to a 1-1 home draw against Snawthorpe.

Campion's second string saw their unbeaten start to the season ended as Huddersfield League side Linthwaite Sports secured a 3-0 away win. Ventus/ Yeadon Celtic fancied their chances at Brighouse Town Reserves but lost 4-1.

Only a handful of Mumtaz County Amateur League games were played, with Lower Hopton missing a chance to move back to the top of Division

One ahead of Steeton after hosts Kirkburton beat them 1-0.

Nick Mathews' double earned Westwood a 2-0 half-time advantage at Hall Green United but had to settle for a point as the Wakefield side hit back to draw 2-2.

In Division Two, Dudley Hill Athletic lost 3-0 at Barclays but Dynamoes moved three points ahead of visitors Hunsworth after beating them 4-3.
