Otley Athletic Club

Sunday saw nine Otley Athletic Club members take part in the Harewood Ten Mile Trail Race, which attracted a field of more than 600 runners. Conditions were described as cool, with a few muddy patches.

The first Otley runner home was Jamie Noon, who had an excellent run to finish second overall in the impressive time of 58.42.

The next Otley finisher was club treasurer Julian Mawson (61.52). Remaining members (in finishing order) were: Ray Hawksby, Tom Hannah, Phil Robinson, Mark Blagg, Terry Flynn and Antonio Cardinale.

Hannah Peacock was unlucky in having to pull out after about six miles because of an ankle injury.

The coming weekend will see several club members travelling to Paris in order to take part in the city's 20k race, which will start and finish at the Eiffel Tower.

Otley AC meets for training at Otley RUFC at 7.15 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. New members are always welcome.

Skyrac AC

The Skyrac AGM will be held on Tuesday, October 18, at the ANSA Clubhouse on Nunroyd Park at 8.30pm.

AGMs are usually dull affairs but a particular appeal is made this year for more parents of young athletes to attend.

Skyrac AC is one of the longest established athletic clubs in West Yorkshire but although dozens of young athletes want to be members of Skyrac AC the number of parents willing to help the club has not kept pace.

A Committee Member said: "Most of the current Skyrac Committee are long serving and committed club members but long term injury, home relocation out of the area - including to France - means that a number of vacancies now exist for parents who wish to invigorate the club with new ideas and enthusiasm.

"Skyrac has a wonderful clubhouse on Nunroyd Park, which it shares with other sports clubs as part of ANSA, and many of its past members have worn England vests, but for the club to continue to thrive and serve its young members it needs 'new blood' and we hope offers of help will come at the next AGM."
