Donovan Ricketts was set for his first game for seven weeks tonight.

And providing his left foot comes through unscathed, the Jamaican is expected to be back in City's goal at Port Vale on Saturday.

Ricketts is likely to feature for the reserves against Shrewsbury at Valley Parade as a warm-up for Vale Park.

He has sat out the last 11 games since breaking a bone in the top of his foot at Rotherham but was close to returning against Huddersfield.

Colin Todd is confident his first-choice keeper will be fit for the weekend - when he should go straight back into the side.

Russell Howarth has struggled to convince during his run and was blamed for the first goal on Monday after being caught off his line by Mark Hudson's

free-kick.

Todd said: "If the keeper was honest with himself, he would say he should have done better.

"Hopefully we'll give Donovan a spell in the reserves but I think he will be fine for Saturday."

Todd also wants to see a lot more from Danny Cadamarteri, who failed to make an impact as a substitute in the derby.

"Danny only had 20 minutes but it was an opportunity and he didn't take it," added the City boss.

"When he gets the ball, he should turn and go at people but he doesn't. He won't take the responsibility and that's the disappointing factor about him.

"He's supposed to have pace and be able to run with the ball but he just doesn't make it happen."
