Good ideas about boosting enterprise could see extra cash pour into Bradford from Treasury funds.

Businesses in the city are being asked for their suggestions of how to increase entrepreneurship and what schemes would increase business if more money were available.

The survey is part of a bid spearheaded by Bradford Council to try and prise more funding from the Government.

The cash was earmarked to stimulate enterprise earlier this year by the Treasury as part of the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative covering areas of deprivation. Awards could be up to £10 million.

The council has asked Bradford Chamber of Commerce to support the bid and ensure that if it were successful the funds would be channelled into projects which firms felt were worthwhile.

Mike Cartwright, the chamber's policy and representation executive, said: "The questionnaire will take only a couple of minutes to complete and costs nothing as a pre-paid envelope is included. It's also possible to complete on-line. There's no guarantee that the bid will succeed but the more supporting evidence we have of what businesses want, will use and can relate to in business support, then it will make that bid stronger. As part of our aim of making Bradford a better place in which to do business, we think it's a worthwhile exercise, and we're sure our members agree."

The chamber is also inviting non-members to participate by requesting a form by calling (01274) 230057 or visiting www.bradfordchamber.co.uk/survey/enterprise.asp.
