Bradford Park Avenue go into tonight's big derby clash with Guiseley just four points away from the play-off zone, having won three and drawn one of their last four UniBond League Premier Division fixtures.

Guiseley are in that fifth- place spot - but Avenue, in eighth place, have a game in hand over them.

Nethermoor holds no fears for Gary Brook's marauders and it promises to be an all-action blood and guts thriller.

After all, Avenue have scored 11 goals in their four-match unbeaten run which included defeating three teams above them - Blyth Spartans, Witton Albion and Farsley Celtic.

After an uncertain start to the season, the players are now believing in themselves.

And because of some astute wheeler-dealing in the transfer market, Brook has acquired a big squad with cover in most positions.

Up front, there is a battle

on for positions with Steve Oleksewycz, Tom Greaves, Alex Nesovic, Phil Hadland and Dean Calcutt all vying for places. But new-boy Steve Smith has re-signed for Ashton and will no longer feature.

Avenue have been boosted by the recent return of skipper and centre half Dean Jones.

Brook said: "The players have found confidence in themselves but it will be tough at Guiseley this evening. I have a report on them - I know what they are about but it is all about what we do.

"I am not looking at the play-offs. I am looking at a top-ten finish and anything above that is a bonus." Brook voiced that aim at the start of the season.

Tenacious midfielder Greg Challender will be out for about a month. He punctured a lung against Farsley.

But Danny Walsh, who missed the game at Runcorn because of work commitments, is back to run midfield.
