The Bulls may be the team of the moment but any plaudits will have to wait until Saturday after the club were overlooked at last night's Man of Steel awards dinner.
Skipper Jamie Peacock was short-listed for a second Man of Steel title but lost out in the final voting to St Helens centre Jamie Lyon.
Coach Brian Noble's effort in transforming the club from no-hopers to Grand Finalists in just three months ultimately went unrecognised when Tony Smith of Saturday's opponents Leeds Rhinos pipped him to the coach of year award.
Perhaps more surprisingly, Karl Pryce's breakthrough 17-try season was overlooked when Hull centre Richard Whiting was named young player of the year.
Lyon, 23, became only the fourth overseas player to win the prestigious Man of Steel award, decided by a panel of broadcasters and journalists.
He follows in the footsteps of Gavin Miller (Hull KR in 1986), Dean Bell (Wigan, 1992) and Adrian Vowles (Castleford, 1999).
Lyon was rewarded for a brilliant first year in Engage Super League in which he played a dominant role in helping Saints secure the League Leaders' Shield.
