Gargrave gardener Chris Myers has come away from his first solo garden design entry at the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show at Tatton Park, Cheshire, with an impressive silver gilt award.
The event had a total of 19 show gardens all built on site within two weeks. The judges gave three golds, three silver gilt, five silver and eight bronze awards.
Chris, who became a self-employed landscape gardener and designer earlier in the year, had entered the show with a garden depicting a woodland setting, stream, wild flower meadow and Yorkshire stone shelter, with inspiration taken from Strid Wood at Bolton Abbey.
His creation had been named "At a Dales Pace" and had been sponsored by Yorkshire Forward.
Last year as part of the Gargrave Germination Group, Chris won a gold medal and best in show at the RHS garden show at Birmingham. His entry was of a canal and lock scene.
Peter Foley and his son, John, from Holden Clough Nursery, at Bolton-by-Bowland, were also awarded a silver gilt award for their display stand in the main marquee highlighting their vast range of specialist plants and alpines.
