MARK GLEDHILL has been called up for England's national hockey squad.
Mark, was the youngest person ever to play for the North of England Under-21 squad when he joined the team last year.
His performance with that team was so impressive that he followed up with a call to represent England in a trial match against Wales at Cardiff.
England won the match 7-0 and now Mark, who plays in the left defence, has joined the squad for forthcoming tournaments.
But his big ambition is to be in the team for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney - where Britain has a real chance of bringing back medals.
The hockey team lifted British hopes in the Barcelona Olympics whenthey captured gold medals.
Mark, who lives in Steeton, works in the advertising department of the Keighley News sister paper the Bradford Telegraph and Argus. He plays his hockey with the Ben Rhydding club.
