Bradford coach driver Dave Shaw is making a marathon effort to help a Shipley couple fulfil their dream of giving their son a baby brother or sister.
Last week the Telegraph & Argus reported how Ange and Mick McDonagh were organising a string of fundraising events to help pay for expensive IVF treatment.
Now Mr Shaw, who works for National Express with Ange's mother Eileen Clark, has offered to donate his sponsorship from this year's London Marathon.
Dave, 47, of Manchester Road, West Bowling, said: "Eileen's a hostess for National Express - we work together on the Bradford/London route and when she told me about the appeal I decided to help.
"It's a really good cause and when I run a marathon I always like to try and raise money for something local.''
Ange, 27, who is desperate to give her nine-year-old son Daniel a baby brother or sister, said: "We only know Dave through my mum so he's really doing this for total strangers.
"What he's doing is a lovely gesture and will hopefully help me to fill a gap in my life and complete our family.''
Her husband Mick, 28, a market attendant for Bradford Council, said: "We've never even met so for Dave to run 26 miles for us is just brilliant.''
Three years ago, after five years of trying for another baby, Ange, who works as a care assistant at Shipley's Neville Grange Resource Centre, discovered she was infertile.
The McDonaghs, who live in Windhill, and a group of friends have now set up Ange's Baby Making Appeal, organising a series of events in a bid to raise the £2,000 needed for IVF treatment.
She hopes to undergo the treatment at Leeds General Infirmary later this year.
Meanwhile Mr Shaw is busy training for the 26-mile run on Sunday, April 26, with regular runs from home which take him as far afield as Shipley Glen and Baildon Moor.
His previous marathon runs have raised more than £1,000 for various charities and the Pudsey Pacers member is hoping to improve on his personal best time of three hours, 53 minutes.
