Motorsport: Dougie Lampkin retained his World Indoor Championship crown in front of a huge and hostile Madrid crowd.

He had to just complete the course to ensure title number two, but the Spanish crowd gave the Silsden man a tough time with catcalls and booing after seeing their idol Marc Colomer crash out of the qualifying runs when he lost control of his Montesa and plunge down the 15-metre high artificial waterfall.

Lampkin took control of the qualifier to win from Spanish teenager David Cobos.

But in the final Cobos took first place with Amos Bilbao - who only got into the final when Colomer was injured - second and Lampkin third.

As predicted, Sporting Escort dominated the rear-wheel drive class, with Chris Leeming winning backed by Simon Parnaby, and Lorraine Leeming in the third spot in the Escort she shared with her husband.
