Householders were on alert on Saturday after a red flood warning was put on the River Wharfe at Otley.
An estimated 40 millimetres of rain fell overnight on Friday and, at its peak during the early hours of Saturday morning, the river rose to 1.28 metres above its normal level.
Worst hit areas were the stretch that runs alongside the A59 at Pool-in-Wharfedale and parts of Wharfemeadows Park in Otley where the river burst its banks and flooded the children's playground.
No properties were flooded and although Environment Agency flood defence experts were on standby, water levels went down quickly.
