Burley-in-Wharfedale residents wanting to take a seat while they wait for a bus have been left standing - literally.

Telegraph poles purchased by Burley Community Council to be used in seats along the village bus routes have disappeared from the grassed area opposite the Malt Shovel car park (near the junction of Back Lane and Norwood Avenue).

Two of the three poles had already been cut up into 12 three foot lengths so that six seats could be put in place last week.

When Community Council members came to collect them, the three foot pieces had gone leaving only the full length pole.

Villagers will now have to wait a while longer before seating is placed on the Hoppa bus route as further poles will have to be purchased - unless someone is able to help.

Anyone wishing to help with the fitting of the seats when they are completed should contact Burley Community Council member Tom Sumner on 01943 862940.
