Allen Plc, the construction group which acquired Cross Hills-based P S Turner Construction last year for £8.7 million, has formed a new Building Contracting Division which will be headed by Turner's current managing director Mike Wormald.
The three existing Allen companies will from this month trade under the new banner of Allenbuild, providing both design and build and traditional contracting under the new unified identity. P S Turner will continue to trade under its own name.
Turnover for the new building division is expected to be in the region of £140 million this financial year.
Andrew Bruce, 36, currently surveying director, will be promoted to assistant managing director of P S Turner on March 30.
Mr Wormald, who will be divisional managing director of the new division, says: "I am delighted that since our acquisition by Allen, P S Turner has been able to make a substantial contribution to the group's performance. Correspondingly, Turner has been able to capitalise on the group's strong financial status by entering into some exciting new partnership agreements.
"In my new role I believe there will be an exciting opportunity to introduce, on a national scale, the philosophy of partnerships and joint ventures, and to develop an enhanced profile for the Allen Building Division synonymous with quality and service."
P S Turner is currently involved in constructing some of the most important commercial schemes in the Yorkshire region. They include the nearly-completed head office for pioneering direct motor insurers Privilege Insurance at Leeds, the new regional head office for Abbey National in Bradford, and a new food processing facility for William Morrison Supermarkets in Bradford.
