Burley U-12s 10
Benton Rangers U-12s 8
BURLEY Under-12s kicked-off on a pitch which could best be described as heavy. Within five minutes Andrew Driver took advantage of a defensive error to put Burley in the lead. However, in just two minutes Benton had hit back to level the score. Chris Thornton on the right wing put Burley back into the lead ten minutes later.
At 2-1 up Burley's defence went to sleep and as a result Benton hit back three times before half-time and Burley trailed 3-4 at the interval.
The second-half saw Burley determined to recapture the initiative and within two minutes of kick-off, Andrew Parker's good run made it level. A flurry of goals followed with Andrew Driver lobbing the 'keeper for his second and within two minutes beating him again for his hat-trick. A through-ball from Chris Bates into the path of Elliot Exley saw Burley level the score at 6-6.
Half-way through the second-half Elliot Exley, with a run from inside his own half, hit another and Burley regained the lead before Benton hit back to draw level again. Despite another goal from the visitors, the Burley side looked to be in charge and wanting to win. With a good through-ball from Mathew Wilde, Elliot Exley grabbed his third. Mark Harrison and Phil Robinson, played well in defence and sent the ball through to Leon Waddington on the left, creating a number of chances to win the match to no avail. Inside the last five minutes Chris Thornton and Andrew Parker walked through the defence and both grabbed their second goals.
