More than 27 damaged South Craven homes are set to have repair work carried out on them in the coming financial year.
At a Craven council health and housing committee meeting this week, members agreed the renovation work on the properties should be included in the 1998/99 capital programme.
The schemes include the modernisation of six one-bedroomed bungalows in Skipton Road, Cononley, at a cost of £66,000; eight one-bedroomed bungalows and five two-bedroomed houses in Lang Kirk Close, Farnhill, at a cost of £150,000; and eight two-bedroomed bungalows on Boundary Avenue, Glusburn, at a cost of £88,000. This amounts to a total of £304,000 which is to be spent bringing the South Craven homes up to modern-day standards. Work on the properties, which were all built in the mid-1960s, will include replacing kitchens and bathrooms.
, re-wiring and the replacement of electric underfloor heating by gas central heating.
The project is part of a $1.5 million two-phase scheme to up-grade homes throughout the Craven district.
In the second phase (1999/2000), members agreed that new heating systems should be installed in 86 listed South Craven homes.
