A former school where Emily Bront' taught could come become the latest shrine for fans of the famous family.
The Bront' Society has applied for permission to put a commemorative plaque on Law Hill House in Southowram near Halifax. The building was a girls' boarding school in the early 19th century and the plaque will be placed in the former classroom.
Lyn Glading, vice-chairman of the society's Heritage and Conservation committee, says that as an under-teacher Emily probably slept with the pupils in the dormitory above.
She says: "There's some controversy about how long she spent there. Many biographers have tried to work out when she went and returned to Haworth.
"They weren't regarded as the happiest days of her life.
"She wrote some poems that testify to her homesickness."
