DESPITE the torrential rain and almost "monsoon" conditions, Burton-in-Lonsdale and District Horticultural Society's Spring Show turned out a success.
Held on Saturday, the show was well attended with a high number of entries in the numerous classes.
In fact, there were the same number of exhibitors, 26, as there were last year, but producing more entries - 83 last year and 90 this year.
Margaret Gibson, honorary show secretary said: "The exhibitors managed a very high standard and altogether this was a very colourful and enjoyable show."
She added: "This was contrary to all expectations, with the peculiar weather and the monsoon conditions the day before.
"The bulbs and pot plants were wonderful with some lovely daffodils and hyacinths."
Mrs Gibson said there were also a large number of pictures in the art section of the show and that there were so many embroidered pictures that the class for a picture in any other medium had to be subdivided.
