LAURENCE Delasaux won the boy's under 14's event at the Ilkley OHS Junior Open Squash tournament by overcoming Northumberland's Tom Young in the final.
In an entertaining final, Laurence did well to win 3-1 against Young, who was the number one seed and who is currently England's number three at under-14 level.
Ilkley's Nicky Sutcliffe fininished a creditable fourth in the boy's under-12 event, going out in the semi-final to eventual winner Sam Blacknell from Nottinghamshire.
Sam beat Mark Sheppard from Doncaster in the final by three games to one.
In the girls' under-14 event, last year's runner-up Katy Burgin, from Durham, beat Lancashire-based Emmeline Goulden in the final with a comfortable three games to love.
Another runner-up from last year, Cheshire's Oliver Wildig, took the under-10 title, beating Kyle McBride from Derbyshire in the final by three games to love.
The quality of play throughout the weekend was testament to the skill and dedication of the juniors involved.
Again, OHS, the sponsors of the weekend, must be praised for their continual support of the junior game.
