Keighley Under-10's were in top form at the Malsis School Rugby Festival - taking the title.
The beat Wharfedale 5-0 in a close game with Robert Curtin powering over the line.
The second game against Calder Vale saw a quick improvement in Keighley's form, linking together well and scoring four tries without reply, there was one each from Craig Spencer, Scott Dyson, Oliver Robinson and Chris Lyle.
The third game saw Keighleyplaying Malsis School's guests from Stewart Melville School, Scotland, coached by former Scottish Internationals Jim Calder and Rodger baird. In a brilliant contestof hard rugby Stewarts went ahead with a well taken try, but Keighley came back in the second half todraw level with a determined run from Scott Dyson to finish 5-5.
Keighley then beat Malsis School comfortably 40-0 with a hat-trick of tries for Chris Lyle, Oliver Robinson (2) Liam McGee and Tom Bleasdale.
Keighley Under-9's were runners-up in their age group, beaten by a strong Stewarts side.
They opened up with a 20-0 victory over Wharfedale and followed up with a 30-0 victory over Calder Vale. then came the real test against a rapidly improving Malsis side when Keighley scraped home 15-10.
With three games under their belts Keighley found the going tough against Stewarts from Edinburgh, going down 10-0 as the Scots took the title. Keighley had two under-8's playing up an age group, but they were not overhelmed by the occasion and added to a good team performance. Tom Nixon and Anthony Gererty topped the try-scoring list with four each.
Keighley Colts wentdown 7-10 to Moortown in their long awaited Yorkshire cup tie. A hard fought first half endedwith just a penalty to the visitors the difference between the sides.
Danny McGee gave Keighley the lead with a superb solo effort under the posts, he converted his own try but the narrow lead was very fragile against a sidewhich was getting cleaner possession as the game wenton.
The final score went to visitors with a try in the right corner brilliantly converted from the touchline. It was a disappointing effort for the Keighley side, but no one could complain at the final score.
An under strength team of Keighley Under-15's went down 44-19 at Old Brodleians. The home team built up a 25-point lead with some determined running from their backs while Keighley took some time to gettheir game going. However, they scored a bulldozing try through Emlyn Butterfield after some good support.
In the second half Keighley wre much improved with scrum half Andrew Marklew inventive, centre Ian Woodwiss industrious and second row Nigel Curr was fast and furious in attack and defence.
They added tries through Nigel Curr and Sam Tate to outscore Brods in the second half, butthe damage had already beendone. Ian Woodwiss converted two tries.
