AFTER a week at Cougar Park I'm beginning to find my way around, and after a re-shuffle in the building I've found an office where I can really get down to business.

It was great to get a win under our belts. It was just what I needed from a personal point of view and gave me a great deal of confidence and has also given the lads a lift.

However, we still have a lot of hard work to do.

Generally I've been very happy with the players' attitude, but I think my style of training came as a bit of a shock to some of the lads. They should really start to feel the benefit in the next few weeks - and then we will all see it out on the field.

Despite the win there were one or two errors which another team would have punished and we will be working on them in training.

Improvements could be made in almost every area, but there just aren't enough hours in the week and we are having to take things one at a time.

COUGAR fans are a legend throughout the game for the way they support the club - and I got my first real taste on Sunday.

An indication of just how loyal the fans are came from the crowd figures.

Despite the fact that the match was between the bottom to clubs in the division we had the highest gate with 2,191. Now my aim is to get back to the heady days of a few years ago when there were regular 5,000-plus crowds at Cougar Park.

The rugby club is a focal point of the community and the support we will get if we do well will be the envy of the league.

We need to be not only winning, but entertaining the crowds, then we will get back to the atmosphere there was here five years ago when the club started out on the road to success.

THIS week I've got two pairs of tickets to our next home game - against Hunslet - to give away.

The prize includes seats in the main stand and passes for the VIP bar on Sunday, March 29.

To enter the competition just answer the following question:

Which three clubs did I represent in my playing career?
