A ghostly secret has been revealed at a popular plantation.
Council countryside worker David Key spotted an apparition on Monday as he tackled a bridleway renovation project at Rivock Edge, above Riddlesden. And after news of his eerie sighting became known, it transpired that a colleague had also experienced a strange phenomenon at the same site just months earlier.
David, 28, was working at the plantation on Monday morning as part of a drainage and resurfacing team when he saw a figure 'float' just 100 yards in front of him.
He told us: "It was grey and hooded. I went over to the point where it had been but there was no sign of anything. Whatever I saw floated across - no human could have done that. It was frightening."
Following David's sighting, fellow countryside worker Malcolm Leyland revealed that he had seen a ghostly figure in the plantation about seven months earlier.
He was walking through the site when he saw what appeared to be the spectre of a man drifting across the path.
Malcolm, 66, says: "I never mentioned it to anybody because I didn't want to appear an idiot. I am very sceptical about ghosts but I saw something that day."
The countryside service is currently resurfacing bridleways and improving the drainage in the plantation.
It is believed that the site, which is popular with walkers, was once traversed by an ancient packhorse route.
