Peter Judson has at last got the fight he's been waiting for - a shot at the British super-featherweight title.
The Keighley boxer meets champion Charles Shepherd of Carlisle at the Albert Hall in London on May 2.
"I don't think he wanted to fight me but the board made me mandatory challenger, so he had no choice,'' said Judson.
"I've been a pro now for nearly nine years and I've been wanting this shot at the title for seven.''
Victory will give Judson the crown previously won by John Doherty and he hopes to emulate the Bradford fighter by going on to win the Lonsdale Belt outright.
"They are still the best belts in boxing and I've always wanted to win one to keep.
"It won't be an easy fight. Shepherd thinks he's Mike Tyson! He's always in your face and makes it difficult to box against him.
"But I've always been able to stand and fight someone if necessary and I've been in with some of the best in the world, so I'm confident.
"The fight takes place on the same day as the Rugby League Cup final so I'm hoping there will be a few Yorkshiremen in town to cheer me on.''
