Yeadon TOWN 4 RAG FC 6
RAGS' management decided to rest a few key players in view of their up coming semi-finals to enable others to come into the frame. As normal Rag seemed to take this fixture easy and even though they never looked like losing they made hard work of it.
Yeadon went ahead with a superb 20 yard goal from Cambridge City player Richard Chatto. This seemed to spur on Rag and as always when 1-0 down they began to play. Twenty minutes into the game a long kick from 'keeper Graham Bentley found Darren Auton and he finished in fine style with two defenders on him.
On the half hour midfielder Andy Corcoran found Darren Auton and his ball to Gareth Smith looked a little long but Smith did well to keep the ball in. His cross found Michael James at the back post and he headed in.
Again Auton found James giving him a simple tap in but Town's Hughie Cotter seemed intent on reading James' shirt label and conceded a penalty. James knocked in the penalty and Cotter was sent off.
In the dying moments of the half Yeadon pulled a goal back against the run of play by Andrew Wildsmith .
Rag received a few words from the management at half tume and this seemed to do the trick.
Chris Myers scored a rare goal from a curling corner to the delight of the crowd.
Rag's fifth came from Steve Palmer who found Darren Auton, who in recent weeks has played well alongside James up front. James was on hand to complete his hat-trick.
With 30 minutes to go Andy Clarke replaced Auton and his first touch was well met by James who netted his fourth. Rag went to sleep and a mix up enabled Frank Glass to score for Yeadon.
With the game sewn up by Rag Yeadon scored another through Chatto with a spectacular effort giving Bentley no chance. Match points for Rag went to Michael James.
