A firm which started in the garage of a Bradford businessman's home has grown to become one with a turnover of more than £1 million.

Autoelectro, which has its headquarters in Leeds Road, Bradford, was started 12 years ago by Santokh Singh Bhogal as a starter motor and alternator repair business.

Over the years the firm's turnover has grown from £40,000 at the outset to more than £1 million - with plans to grow even further.

The firm now manufactures and supplies automotive components.

Mr Bhogal headed the business from its origins in the garage of his West Bowling home for ten years until his death in October, 1996.

Now the firm's managing director is Tony Bhogal ,33, who is supported by his brothers Paul, 24 and Nicky, 28.

He said: "We have worked very hard to make a success of the business and we are continuing to grow it."

The company which made a series of moves which led to the opening of a store and repairs shop in Leeds Road, now runs a Lucas agency in premises near their Autoelectro HQ.

The Lucas agency started in 1995 allowed the firm to supply main branded parts to agencies and identical parts for ordinary customers when their cars run out of warranty.

The company, which now employs nearly 40 workers, runs an Autospark business at Eastwood Brothers in Roseville Road, Leeds.

Tony Bhogal believes the company is the only Asian businesses in the area to have achieved BS EN ISO 9002 - the European version of the former BS5750 quality standard.
