RETIRED pub landlord Jack Jarvis recorded his first hole-in-one when the Golfing Society from Burley Woodhead's Hermit pub played its monthly stableford at the Fulford course near York.
Jack, former landlord of the Red Lion at Burley-in-Wharfedale, holed in one at the 146 yard 10th hole and then declared: 'It was my only decent shot of the day.'
Jack, a former playing member of Burley Cricket Club is a member of Baildon Golf Club.
The competition was won by Miss Anne Newman of Bracken Ghyll GC with 34 points on ther last six holes from Tony Pell (Otley GC) 34. Third was Paul Gibson (American Golf and Waterton Park GC) with 33 points.
The society plans other stablefords in the coming months at Baildon, Otley, Ilkley and Skipton.
