East Morton solicitor Richard Wilson, senior partner with Keighley and Bradford law firm Gordons Wright & Wright, has been elected president of Bradford Law Society.
He follows in the footsteps of another senior partner, W B Gordon, who gave the firm its name and was president of the society in 1900.
Mr Wilson says: "It was interesting to discover the historical link between this firm and Bradford Law Society. W B Gordon was the epitome of the Victorian Yorkshire businessman, acting for many of the region's leading industrialists and wool barons. He was a larger than life character at a time when this region led the world in textile manufacturing.
"I am sure he would be delighted that the practice he joined over 100 years ago has grown into the leading law firm in Bradford and Keighley, and one of the largest in West Yorkshire."
Like his predecessor, Richard Wilson is an Aire Valley man through and through. He joined Gordons Wright & Wright in 1958 and became senior partner in 1982. He also heads the firm's commercial property department.
The changing face of law .... new Bradford Law Society president Richard Wilson of Gordons Wright & Wright, and the society's 1900 president W B Gordon, from the same firm.
