Children's lives were at risk from a fire at disused Aireworth Mills, in Aireworth Road, Keighley says West Yorkshire Fire Service's Jeff Glover. Mr Glover, a sub officer at Keighley Fire Station, says children who had made a den in the building were to blame for the Sunday lunchtime blaze.
Wooden pallets were alight and flames spreading to floorboards by the time the alarm was raised. Crews had to break in to the partly-boarded up building to tackle the blaze and four crewmen needed breathing apparatus.
Sub Officer Glover says: "Parents need to know where their children are playing. There could have been fatalities here."
An electrical fault badly damaged the engine compartment of a car parked at Herncliffe private nursing home, in Spring Gardens Lane, Keighley last Thursday night. Firefighters from Keighley dealt with it.
