Plans for proposed £200 million Odsal Superdome ran into fresh controversy today as councillors prepared to discuss its quarterly progress report.
Minority group councillors, and resident David Warburton, claimed they were being kept in the dark as a brief progress report was released for the Council's corporate executive sub committee on Friday.
They claimed the scheme was at a standstill - but that was strongly denied by Superdeme boss John Garside who said there had been "tremendous progress."
The progress report by David Kennedy, Executive Director, says that developers have appointed the merchant bank Arbuthnot Latham & Company to help in raising the funding; and regular meetings are being held with residents.
He advises another progress meeting for September 18.
But today Mr Warburton said: "My personal view is that we appear to be going backwards."
Tory Chief Whip Councillor Anne Hawkesworth said: "This is the shortest report I have ever seen on Superdome and it is disgraceful that the officers are telling us nothing."
But Superdome boss John Garside said a large number of potential funders were being interviewed and the bank would choose the best.
Council leader Councillor Ian Greenwood said Tories had asked for specific funding details at the last meeting - and they had now got it.
The review comes as Meadowhall shopping centre developer, multi-millionaire Eddie Healey, prepares to submit a rival planning application to Bradford Council to develop at Odsal. It includes a new prestige stadium for Bradford Bulls. But Mr Garside says this proposal is of "no consequence."
