BROTHERS Jeremy and Paul Nolan were greeted by glorious sunshine last weekend for the start of the RSAC Scottish Rally.
The event was the third round in the Mobil 1 British Rally Championship which started at 9am on Friday with the Keighley crew aiming for a good finish in their 'Skoda Kit Car'. A good performance in the last round in Northumberland had lifted them 12 places up the seeding order.
They tackled the first stage in hot dusty conditions, reaching the end of the nine-mile section in 35th place.
They were caught on on the second stage when they went off the road into a log, but managed to finish the stage after dropping about 1 minutes.
Stage three was a wickedly fast downhiol section where teams can push their cars to 120mph on the narrow gravel forest tracks. Jeremy and Paul were whooping with joy when they reached the stop line.
"It was brilliant, we gave it everything in there," Jeremy said.
Stage four was a 12-mile fast and flowing section, but it was to see the end of the brothers' run. Only 2 miles into the stage the engine cut out and despite re-starting ground to a halt again a mile further on.
The eventually struggled out of the stage when a works Seat service crew offered to help, but electrical connectors on the two units would not match.
Round Four of the British Championship is in Ulster in August.
