DURING the first four weeks of the summer holidays "Sports Roundabout" will be organising one week sports courses at St Mary's RC School, Menston, for children between the ages of 6-13 years.

In the one week multi-activity courses children will have an opportunity to participate in a wide range of sporting activities including: football, rounders, golf, badminton, short tennis, aerobics, athletics, lacrosse, uni-hoc, basketball, netball, volleyball and cricket. In the event of poor weather a full indoor programme will be provided.

Sports Roundabouts coaching director is David Geldart, head of physical education at St Mary's. David's work in physical education and sport has gained him both national and international recognition. At national level he holds key positions and is currently a member of the Sports Council's National Lottery Sports Panel. A former county representative at football, basketball and athletics, he holds a wide variety of National Governing Body awards. As a Senior FA coach he is selector/coach to the highly successful Great Britain U-17 football team.

Of the summer courses Mr Geldart said: "The children will have a wealth of opportunities to develop their skills and understanding by working in small groups in a high quality educational environment with well qualified staff. The emphasis is very much on enjoyment, individual progress, confidence building and the promotion of good sporting behaviour. Above all sport should be fun and it is vital that children's early experiences are good ones".

The courses run for five days (Monday-Friday) from 9.00am to 3.30pm, starting on July 20, and cost only £49. Places are strictly limited to ensure quality provision. For further details, please telephone 01943 877869 after 7.00pm.
