The annual Founders' Day celebrations for past and present staff and students will be held at St John's Parish Church, Ingrow, on Thursday, June 25 at 11am. The theme for the event, which will feature a school choir and musicians, will be 'Beginnings'. The Rev Malcolm Foy will lead the service and school exams officer Roger Lane will be the organist.
The service will recall those who founded the school, and Keighley's Greenhead Grammar School, and give thanks for the Drake and Tonson Foundation which provides bursaries for students going into further and higher education. Former staff and pupils wishing to attend are asked to contact Rachel Pantelli at the school.
A Kirkcudbright to Keighley relay event over the weekend June 20 and 21 is set to raise £1,500 for charity. The 18 Oakbank students aged 13 to 19 who will be running accompanied by four teachers on foot and 10 on cycles, are raising funds for a ball pool at Keighley's Branshaw Special School and for national and international charities for people with eye problems.
The team expects to arrive back at Oakbank around 8am on the Sunday.
