Airedale Writers' Circle is launching its annual Open Writing Competition this week.
Anyone over the age of 14 can enter and this year's theme is 'The Job'. Manuscripts can be submitted in three catagories: short stories (maximum 1,500 words), poems (maximum 40 lines) and articles (maximum 1,000 words).
The entry fee is £3 for the first entry and £2 each for subsequent entries. A prize of £25 will be awarded in each catagory, with the circle's Challenge Cup given to the best overall entry from a member of the circle. The closing date for entry is September 12.
Entry forms can be obtained from Keighley Library, Keighley Information Centre, the Craven Herald Shop in Skipton, or from the secretary, Maureen O'Hara at 20 Glenhurst Avenue, Park Lane, Keighley, BD21 4RJ (tel 603119).
