A search has been launched for memorabilia from the days when Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show rode into town. The world-famous outfit played to enormous crowds when it visited Keighley in 1891 and again in 1903-04.
Now the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds is planning a major exhibition next year devoted to Buffalo Bill, and is seeking material. It is also keen to hear from anyone with stories about the show.
Nicholas Boole, for the museum, says: "Our curators have recently visited a number of America's finest collections to gather a wide range of original objects, some never before seen in public. A key element of the exhibition is to be a section entitled 'Buffalo Bill in Yorkshire', where the story will be told of the show's tour of Yorkshire in 1903-04."
Anyone able to help should contact Graeme Rimer at the museum in Armouries Drive, Leeds LS10 1LT. Those who loan material will receive an acknowledgment in the exhibition catalogue.
