Six Asian firms were last night named as the best in the area at a major business awards event.
The firms, all from West Yorkshire, were winners in the Bradford Euro-Asian Resource Business of the Year Awards. The event, pictured left, which was supported by the NatWest Bank, was held at the Bradford Business & Innovation Centre in front of 200 people.
The winners were presented with their awards by Dayal Sharma, chairman and chief executive of the Euro-Asian Resource, and Graham Halliday, regional managing director of the NatWest Bank.
The Bradford winners were Kashmir Crown Bakeries, which has a turnover of £5million and 170 staff, Mumtaz Food Industries, which has 500 full and part-time staff, S M Travel, which has a turnover of £2million, and the Nawaab Restaurant, which has a multi-million pound turnover and 70 staff.
The two other winners were Leeds-based Goldspot Cash & Carry, which has a turnover of £20million and 36 staff, and the Heckmondwike Dental Practice which has six dentists.
The event was attended by the Lord and Lady Mayoress of Bradford, Coun Tony Miller and his wife, Elsie, Bradford Council leader Coun Ian Greenwood, Barry Whitaker, chairman of the awards advisory panel, and Paul Crossley, the Euro-Asian Resource secretary.
