Rangers right back Stephen Wright today signed a two year contract with Bradford Cit and set his sights on establishing himself in first team football again.

The 26-year-old Scotland international, who spent the whole of last season in Rangers reserves, said: "I need first team football and I am grateful to Paul Jewell for giving me that opportunity.

"It has always been my ambition to play in England and I know from my loan spell at Wolves at the end of last season what a good standard the English First Division is."

Wright joined Rangers from Aberdeen three years ago and was a team-mate at Ibrox of City's first summer signing Stuart McCall.

He has joined City under the Bosman Ruling which means there is no transfer fee involved.

He completed his transfer today after undergoing a medical.

Wright is one of several players who have left Rangers or who will be leaving Ibrox as new coach Dick Advocaat succeeds outgoing manager Walter Smith.

He said: "There are a lot of changes at Rangers and, now my contract is finished, I thought it was a good chance to go elsewhere.

"Paul Jewell got in touch with me. He is very ambitious and I took the chance to sign for Bradford."
