It's never too late to learn - that's the message from Bradford & Ilkley Community College today as it launches its new adult-education programme for the coming year.

And there's a whole range of courses catering for every taste, from academic writing and ballroom dancing through to yoga and Yorkshire Dales history.

For those interested in finding out more, the college has produced an Adult Education Prospectus and, for the first time, it will be available through the Telegraph & Argus.

More than 200,000 copies of the glossy A4 brochure will be included with the T&A on Tuesday, July 7, and its associated publications - this week's Wharfedale & Airedale Observer and Ilkley Gazette.

Copies will also be distributed to households that receive the Bradford Star and Aire Valley Target.

The brochure lists over 1,000 courses which can be studied at times and locations to suit students. The programme caters for adult learners who either want to find a new hobby or improve their qualifications for the job market.

Past successes include Janet Murray, a part-time student who attended sign language stages 1 and 2. As a result of the classes Janet went on to do a full-time course 'Introduction to working with the deaf' and secured a job as a communication support worker at Bradford & Ilkley Community College. And this year she gained her sign-language stage 3 award.

Amy Stephenson is proving that age is no barrier. The 95-year-old is currently studying life-drawing classes at the college and plans to go on to do pottery next year.

Amy has been studying classes in the adult-education department for more than 25 years and is just another example of how people are being helped by the programme.

The education prospectus was due to get its official launch this afternoon in Bradford's Centenary Square. The launch party, which runs from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, includes an appearance by the Bradford Bulls Roadshow featuring the club's mascot Bullman.
