Rawdon opted for a 20 over thrash in the rain affected programme and emerged with egg on their faces going down by three wickets.
In situations like this it is a very thin line that separates success and failure and teams are obviously keen to get a start if they can and steal a march on their title rivals.
In Rawdon's case they batted first and were restricted to 85-8 as Richard Mumford took 6-40 off 10 overs.
Rawdon's re-jigged batting order saw opening bowler Darren Murray coming out to open with skipper Bruce Percy.
They provided a solid start but their colleagues were unable to maintain the momentum and only wicketkeeper Pearson joined them in double figures.

Skipton got a result by the narrowest of margins at Knaresborough where they were dismissed for 80. Knaresborough's hopes were halted by Mick Scott who used the conditions superbly to take 6-27 off 24 overs and end Knaresborough's innings one run short at 79 all out,.
For Skipton opener Mark Whitaker top scored with 27 but he was one of R Procter's eight victims in a return of 8-56 opff 23 overs.
Calverley also managed to stage a reduced overs game making 129-8 and declaring after 43 overs. Horsforth replied with 110-8 to draw. Its tough at the bottom as Horsforth skipper Craig Chaplin can testify.
He retired hurt with his score on five but returned to be dismissed for eight.
The mainstay of the Horsforth innings was his fellow opener John Statham who made 46.
Calverley were generally on top thanks to Neil Waite who returned 5-23 off 12 overs and was also responsible for running out Ian Murphy.
In a game reduced to 30 overs a side Bilton gained a home win over Hall Park who made 93-9.
They struggled against the bowling of Mark Reynard who took 6-48 off 15 overs.
Bilton then knocked off the runs with opener Miles Corish making 39. Park skipper Andrew Doidge did his best to turn the tide with a 3-16 return but Bilton took the points with just one over to go.
