WORLD Cup fever has reached a Yeadon school and the headmaster is not impressed.
Pupils at SS Peter and Paul RC Primary School in New Road, are mad-keen on soccer - they have a successful football team themselves - but it appears the World Cup in France has taken over their lives.
So much so that their head teacher John Cockroft is a
little worried and has asked parents to make sure they do not stay up too late watching the action.
Mr Cockroft said this week: "It is noticeable that, since the World Cup started, some
children are more tired and irritable. These children seem to be staying up very late in order to catch the last kick of the ball.
"Better a video replay than a child who cannot work or who is in trouble!"
Mr Cockroft said that quite obviously the World Cup was proving to be very popular with the children particularly the boys.
"The World Cup is the
subject of their conversations which, of course, we do not mind," he said.
He also added that the
children had been told they were not allowed to come to school in football strips.
