Furious Keighley parent Elaine Hewitt says Cllr Andy Mudd is wrong to believe most teachers support Bradford council's schools review.
Mrs Hewitt's attack stems from a statement from cllr Mudd published in last week's Keighley News in which he claimed the 'vast majority' of parents, teachers and governors are happy with the review proposals.
She says: "He's a loud voice in a small pool. The vast majority of people do not support the council's plans, but he is trying to get across the feeling that everyone in education does agree with them. Teaching staff have strict contracts with the local education authority and the reason we are unable to kick up a fuss is because it is against what our contracts say."
Mrs Hewitt, of High Spring Gardens, has also hit back at cllr Mudd's warning not to let 'vociferous minorities' distract advocates of the proposals. She adds: "We are the vociferous majority, not minority. We are the voice against the nonsensical closure of good schools."
Cllr Mudd responds that people living in Cullingworth will hold a different view to those in the Worth Valley.
He also says people do not want large schools which is what John Roberts, head at Oakbank, is proposing by retaining Bronte Middle School and Oakbank as a temporary split-site secondary school.
He believes the majority of first schools are in favour of the schools review proposals.
