Local MP Ann Cryer has welcomed a new scheme that will allow consumers in Keighley to back their favourite business for a government award.
The aim of the new scheme 'Consumers First' is to recognise those businesses and individuals who make that extra effort to ensure their customers get the best possible service.
A customer can nominate any type of business for the award by filling in an application form attached to the leaflet which has been launched by the government this week.
Ann Cryer says: "We all appreciate good service but unfortunately we don't always get it.
"So when we do get good service it is essential that we make sure we express how grateful we are - that is what this new scheme is about.''
She continues: "I know there are many good businessess in Keighley and I am sure their customers would like to see their good work rewarded. The scheme should also encourage those businesses that don't make that special effort to work on providing better customer services.''
Launching the scheme this week, Consumer Affair's Minister Nigel Griffiths says: "Good businesses never forget that favourites always come first. We hear a lot about the poor sevice that some businesses offer, but very rarely hear about those businesses that go out of their way to provide a special service.
"This scheme will allow that work to be recognised and give the people of Keighley a chance to say thankyou to their favourite firm.''
