A driving school in Keighley is using a highway of a different kind to attract new customers.

Hutton's Driving School is advertising its services on the Internet in the hope of attracting prospective learners.

The driving school is the first in the Keighley area to advertise on the Internet, and owner James Hutton is hoping that the idea will catch on, especially with computer literate young people.

The driving school went on-line at the start of the week, and the web page will allow people to book lessons by e-mail. The web page also includes a theory test, which will provide learners with a chance to run through questions likely to crop up on the new written test.

James says: "I decided to go on-line because I had bought a PC with Internet capability and it seemed like a good idea to make the most of it.

"There are alot of things that we can do with the site, and we would like to develop it in the future to make it more interactive."

He adds: "A lot of people start learning to drive around the age of 17 and many of these people are computer literate and use the Internet on a regular basis."

James is hoping the new computer-based service will complement his more traditional methods of advertising.

The Stanbury-based driving school is also offering the extra incentive of six lessons for £10 each, for those who book via the Internet.
