World motorcycle trials champion Dougie Lampkin topped the tables on Saturday and Sunday in France where he battled against temperatures of over 30c to win both qualifying events in the sixth round of the world series.
Lampkin beat off competitin from Britain's Graham Jarvis and former World Champion Marc Colomer, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively, at the Virleu Le Grand near Lyon.
Lampkin won despite a lapse in concentration on a woodland course which otherwise he found relatively easy. Jarvis found some of the sections slippery but remained in contention until Sunday when he lost form and could only manage 11th best. Steve Colley, who had not been happy with his own performance on Saturday faired better on Sunday, coming home in 8th.
Jarvis is now third in the standings with Colley sixth.
Bingley rider, Martin Crosswaite, put in a notoble performance without the help of his 'minder' Russell Houghton who was hospitalised with a mysterious virus. Crosswaite finished a respectable 21st.
Lampkin now leads the championship by 67 points from Marc Colomer. With 120 points left up for grabs, a double victory at the next event in Andorra would leave Lampkin in an almost unassailable position.
Jarvis will be pushing Lampkin all the way, as victory for him in the final rounds would leave him with a chance of second place overall.
