AN ancient document which had been missing for years relating to land in Addingham, has been found.
The 300-year-old deed was discovered during recent renovations at the rectory of St Peter's parish church.
It gives details of a stretch of land covering Dawson Crossley field (the Mill Close) at High Land, which is now rented by the parish council from the Addingham United Charity.
Councillor Bill Preston, who is also one of the charity's trustees, said the find was beneficial for everyone in the village.
"We thought we had lost it and had searched high and low. It really is wonderful that it has been found as it is a piece of Addingham history," he said.
The document will be stored at Bradford Council's archives department.
Addingham United Charity was formed in 1972 and helps the needy in the village. Donations can be given to the rector at St Peter's, the Rev Andrew Tawn, or taken to Bill Preston, 5 St Peter's Court, Addingham.
