JUNE has been a busy month for members of the Ilkley and District Motor Club as they have hosted two National B Permit events.
The King Brothers Autotest at Pool Mills attracted members of the Association of North West Car Clubs and the Association of Northern Car Clubs with the class for sports cars being particularly competitive and spectacular in the dusty conditions.
Clerk of Course Henry Kitching made good use of the fast tarmac venue and 14 tests were completed during the morning and afternoon.
A quick shower of rain did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the competitors and there were only two retirements.
Tim Sargeant of Knutsford won the event in spectacular fashion in his Dutton B Plus 2000 and class awards went to John Taylor in a Mini, David Mosey of Guiseley in a Nova and Steve Powell in a Westfield.
David's wife Adele Mosey won the ladies' award and Richard Wood of Baildon in a Mini won the novice award.
The Filtrate Trophy Production Car Trial was held at Caley Hall Farm, Pool, and was a round of the BTRDAA, RAC MSA, ANCC and ANWCC Championships.
As always this event attracts competitors from as far afield as Bury St Edmonds, Cheltenham and Solihull and the experience of this class of driver tests the Clerks of Course Bryan Kitching and Bryan Sands to the limit.
However, they always seem to outwit the experts and produced some excellent hills which saw a well deserved win for Neil Mackay of Nottingham in a Nova.
He took the Filtrate Trophy and the BTRDA Shield.
Ilkley member Adrian Tate from Pool-in-Wharfedale won his class driving a Golf GTi and the Sagar Milburn Trophy for the Best Ilkley Member not winning any other award went to Malcolm Rainforth of Menston driving a Nova.
Steve Courts, a previous winner of the Filtrate Trophy, won Class 4 in an Imp.
The Larkspeed League Championship, which Ilkley won for an unprecedented third successive year last year, sees Ilkley again in a commanding lead after six rounds.
Only the Single Stage Rally organised by North Humberside failed to give the Ilkley team an excellent result but successes in the autotests, production car trial, Sprint and Stage Rally put Ilkley over 600 points ahead of their nearest rivals the Sporting Escort Owners' Club.
