A valiant effort by both players and members to produce a playable wicket last weekend was all in vain.

Although they managed to get a game on the rain-soaked Lawkholme pitch, Keighley crashed to a five wicket defeat at the hands of lowly Lidget Green.

Following heavy rain there was no chance of the game starting on time, but a tremendous 'mopping up' operation meant that play started at 3.15 with the match reduced to 33 overs per side.

Having been put in to bat Keighley were soon in trouble and only opener Alan Broadley emerged with any credit as they crashed to a paltry 64 all out.

Rob McFarlane and Steve Reape gave Keighley early hope with two quick wickets, but Lidget eased home by a comfortable margin.

n The league season reaches the halfway stage this weekend as Keighley entertain league leaders Brighouse. They will be hoping for more consistency after a disappointing first half.
