OTLEY athlete Catherine O'Halloran has been selected for the Great Britain Catholic Schools' athletics team for the International Summer Student Games in Gran Canaria where her main discipline will be the javelin.
Catherine, a 16 years-old pupil at St Mary's RC School, Menston, has recently benefitted from coaching from Wilf Paish who steered such as Tessa Sanderson to Olympic success.
Catherine competed in the Eastern Regional Combined Events final at South Leeds Stadium over the weekend in the high jump, 200 metres, shot, hurdles, long jump, javelin and 800 metres.
Catherine has been incredibly successful in recent seasons in the Bradford Schools' League, and the Leeds and West Yorkshire Schools' Championships in both the 200 metres and the javelin.
After deciding to focus on the javelin she has achieved enormous success and will represent West Yorkshire in the English Schools' Athletics Championships in Exeter.
