LANGCLIFFE Carnival was a great success on Saturday, particularly for the village primary school's five-a-side football team.
For the youngsters won the carnival's annual five-a-side tournament between primary schools from throughout North Craven - the first time the Langcliffe school has been victorious in 19 years.
The team, Fable Widdop, Gary Lodge, Mark Newhouse, Ryan Horsman, Adam Mitchell and sub Andrew Jeffrey, beat off stiff competition to meet Giggleswick in the semi finals and then Settle B in the final. The school and village are very proud of the team, who all played very well, especially Fable in goal and Gary, who scored the winning goal.
The football tournament was just one attraction in a full afternoon of entertainment which started with the procession through the village.
Emma Lonsdale was crowned carnival princess by retiring princess, Sami Heaton.
Emma, 14, a pupil at Settle Middle School, was attended by Langcliffe Primary School pupils Hazel Bullock, Kirsty Waite and Ben Mitchell.
The weather was nice for most of the day, with the rain coming down later on in the afternoon.
Among the attractions were Earby Brass Band, various games, children's rides, a bouncy castle, a gymnastics display by Craven Gymnastics Club and line dancing, led by Jane Jones, of Hellifield.
The carnival organisers wish to thank all the sponsors and everyone who helped to make the day so enjoyable.
