Talented artists held a special exhibition this week as part of their studies.
Students on the Intermediate and Advanced GNVQ Art and Design courses displayed a selection of their work in the school on Wednesday evening for parents and teachers to come along and admire. On Thursday, an external verifier visited the school to assess the students' work and to announce whether they had passed their courses or not.
The Intermediate course students will also present a sculpture and a mural to Airedale Hospital this month as part of a major project. The students did the costings, market research and designs on their own.
The presentations come as part of the hospital's celebrations of the NHS's 50th anniversary. The mural, featuring active rehabilitation, will be given to the physiotherapy department and the sculpture has been based on the anniversary on Sunday July 5.
Advanced students will also finish painting a mural at Lees First School, Haworth, today. It is for the school playground and was based on ideas put forward by pupils.
The majority of students on the Advanced course will go on to do BA or Foundation courses while most of the Intermediate pupils have opted to do the Advanced level.
