Keighley MP Ann Cryer is joining forces with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) in calling for an end to the Canadian Seal Hunt.

Mrs Cryer has signed an Early Day Motion calling for the end of the hunt. She says: "The cruelty involved in this hunt is appalling. Seals are to die slow and painful deaths."

Mrs Cryer has joined forces with the Oxford and Cambridge exam board to boost A-levels in Bengali. Mrs Cryer, who put down a motion on the subject in the House of Commons earlier this year, says: "The most significant problem facing the board is a shortage of people to mark the exams. I am appealing for anyone in Keighley who is fluent in Bengali, with the relevant teaching experience, to come forward."

Any Bengali speakers who are interested in working with the Oxford and Cambridge Board this summer should contact Dr Ron Moclone on (01223) 553311.
